Kenya and UAE agree on the final parameters of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.

Negotiations between the United Arab Emirates and Kenya have resulted in a trade agreement that will increase investment flows in logistics, healthcare and travel and tourism between the two nations.

As per the press release, the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement is expected to improve market access for enterprises operating on both sides.

Infrastructure and ICT investments stand to gain as well; the agreement will create a platform for both parties' small- and medium-sized business expansion and collaboration. Real annual GDP growth of Kenya's economy increased to 5% in 2023 from 4.8% in the preceding year.

The UAE’s Minister of Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al-Zeyoudi described the new agreement as marking a “significant milestone” in the country’s trade deal program. He added: “It is a testament to our commitment to strengthening economic ties with the African continent and to creating new opportunities for businesses and investors in both of our countries. "As a reliable partner and investor, we look forward to strengthening our relationship with Kenya and growing our presence in Africa."

The deal, according to Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for Trade, Investments and Industry Rebecca Miano, is evidence of her government's determination to leverage international trade as "a key lever of economic growth and transformation."
